10 Best Players of the Week (12/3-12/9)

With another week of the NBA season in the books, in the pocket, and out of sight, it's time to take a look at the best players of the last week. If you missed last week's, click here. If not, let's get into it, these are the 10 best players of the week.

Nikola Vucevic

The Orlando Magic had a busy week this week, playing five games and going 2-3 along the way, pushing their record 11-17. With Aaron Gordon going down with a concussion midway through the week, it was Nikola Vucevic who led the way for the Magic during the week. For the week, Vucevic averaged 23.6 points, 13.2 rebounds, 4.8 assists, 1.2 steals, and 2.6 blocks per game while shooting 58% from the field, 32% from three-point range, and a perfect 10/10 from the free throw line. To top it off, Vucevic had two games where he grabbed over 15 rebounds and recorded a triple-double against the Atlanta Hawks, putting up 31 points, 13 rebounds, and 10 assists while shooting 72% from the field.

Joel Embiid

The week did not go well for the Philidelphia 76ers, as they lost both their games this week and dropped to a 13-12 record. However, Joel Embiid was able to keep up his superstar-caliber play this week and had one of the best stat lines in the league this week. For the week, Embiid averaged 27.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4.5 blocks per game while shooting 51% from the field, 67% from three-point range, and 94% from the free throw line.

Devin Booker

Devin Booker's week might have come to an early end following a strained left adductor, but he still managed to have a great week for himself after leading the Phoenix Suns to a 1-1 record. For the week, Booker averaged 32.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 2 steals and a block per game while shooting 45% from the field and 46% from three-point range. Booker's best performance of the week came during the Suns' win over the 76ers, where he put up 46 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 steals.

Damian Lillard

The Portland Trail Blazers played two games this week. They lost both of them and fell to a 13-12 on the year. However, one person who had a strong week was Damian Lillard, who played above the level he's played all season despite his team's struggles. For the week, Lillard averaged 32.5 points, 6 rebounds, and 7.5 assists per game while shooting 46% from the field, 48% from three-point range, and went perfect from the free throw line, making all 11 of his free throw attempts.

Kevin Durant

Even with Stephen Curry on the disabled list following a right ankle sprain, the Golden State Warriors haven't slowed down one bit, winning all four games they played this week and improved to a 21-6 record. Needless to say, the blow of losing an all-star is cushioned a little bit when you have three other all-stars on the roster. Leading the way for the Warriors was one of those all-stars in Kevin Durant. For the week, Durant averaged 28.5 points, 7.8 rebounds, 7.3 assists, a steal and 2 blocks per game while shooting 47% from the field, 32% from three-point range, and 91% from the free throw line. Durant's best performance came in the Warrior's win over the Charlotte Hornets, where Durant recorded 35 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists for a triple-double.

Russell Westbrook

The Oklahoma City Thunder still find themselves with a below .500 record, but this week they managed to go 3-1 and improved to a 12-13 record on the year. Leading the way was Russell Westbrook, who has followed up his MVP season last year with another fantastic stat line this season. For the week, Westbrook averaged 26.8 points, 10 rebounds, and 11 assists per game. Additionally, Westbrook recorded two triple-doubles during the week/

Giannis Antetokounmpo

The Milwaukee Bucks seem to have finally gelled together following the addition of Eric Bledsoe, as they went 3-1 on the week, improved to a 15-10 record on the year, and moved up to the 4th seed in the Eastern Conference. As always, it was Giannis Antetokounmpo leading the way this week as he continues his case for the MVP this season. For the week, Antetokounmpo averaged 32.3 points, 11 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 1.3 steals and a block per game while shooting 54% from the field and 40% from three-point range. Antetokounmpo's best performance of the week came against the Boston Celtics where he put up 40 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 assists.

James Harden

Even with the Golden State Warriors thriving as they normally do, the Houston Rockets have been able to maintain their spot at the top of the Western Conference. This week, they improved their record to 20-4 following a perfect 3-0 week led by James Harden, who has, like Antetokounmpo, has put his name in the race for the MVP this season with top-notch stats. For the week, Harden averaged 37.7 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 steals per game while shooting 53% from the field, 43% from three-point range, and 90% from the free throw line. Harden's best performance came in the Rockets' win over the Portland Trail Blazers when he put up 48 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 steals.

LeBron James

Their win streak might have ended this week, but the Cleveland Cavaliers still find themselves with one of the best records in the Eastern Conference following a 3-1 record on the week. As expected, it was LeBron James who lead the Cavs to three wins on the week behind his fantastic play. For the week, James averaged 28.5 points, 10.3 rebounds, 9 assists, 2.3 steals and a block per game while shooting 54% from the field and 44% from three-point range. James' best performance came when he put up a triple-double during the Cavs' win over the 76ers where he put up 30 points, 13 rebounds, and 13 assists.

DeMarcus Cousins

And rounding out the list is my pick for the Player of the Week, DeMarcus Cousins. The New Orleans Pelicans have had a mediocre at best and bad at worst season so far, and the recent injury to Anthony Davis hasn't helped at all. They went 1-2 on the week and dropped down to a 13-13 record on the year. However, Cousins has continued to play like one of the best players in the league, the same way he has all season. just like he did this past week. For the week, Cousins averaged 32.3 points, 14.7 rebounds, 5 assists, 2.7 steals, and 2.3 blocks per game while shooting 47% from the field and 41% from three-point range. Cousins best performance during the week came during the Pelicans' win over the Denver Nuggets, where Cousins put up 40 points, 22 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 blocks per game. If he keeps this up, the Pelicans might be able to pull through these struggles and pull off a playoff run.

The Best Undrafted NBA Player From Each Year Since 2000

Most of us have probably felt the disappointment of not being picked for a sports team in high school. Now imagine that, only the selection process is on national television, all your friends & family are with you waiting for a call that's never coming, and you have to watch as everyone else in the pool is picked over you, and that's probably how it feels to go undrafted. Every year, hundreds of college athletes declare for the draft with the hopes of going pro in their sport of choice. However, with a limited number of draft selections available, not all of them will make the cut and find themselves on a team by the end of the draft. The NBA is no stranger to this, as with only 60 picks in each draft, plenty of prospects go undrafted each year. That's not to say that someone's NBA dreams are dead if they don't get picked, as plenty of undrafted players from various draft classes end up making it to the NBA, with some even having lengthy, successful careers for

SHOCKING! Trail Blazers' Zach Collins Has No Racist Tweets From Past

UPDATE: Scratch that. He actually does In wake of the recent scandals involving Major League Baseball players and offensive tweets from their pasts, the basketball world was shocked to discover that Zach Collins of the Portland Trail Blazers did not have any racists posts on his Twitter account from before he was a professional basketball player. As first discovered by Twitter user Xavier Pousey, better known by his Twitter handle @KingCollison4, the former Gonzaga player's Twitter account contained a surprising lack of offensive tweets from his high school days. "He was really just wishing all his friends happy birthday, it wasn't what I was expecting at all," said Pousey when reached for comments by the Basketball Section. "He tweeted about School of Rock not being on Netflix once...that's all I've got." Pousey, a Panda Express employee by day and a Nick Collison fan account administrator by night, initially looked into Collins' Twitter

The Top 10 2008 High School Recruits: 10 Years Later

Recently I saw a video by YouTuber KTO where he took a look back at the top 10 high football recruits in 2008  and how their careers turned out. So that gave me an idea to take a look at the top 10 high school basketball recruits from the 2008 ESPN 100 and take a look at where they are now 10 years later. Before I start, here are some the players who didn't crack the top 10 that might surprise you considering who did make it. Reggie Jackson ranked #94. Attended Boston College for three years before being drafted with the 24th pick by the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2011. Currently holds career averages of 12.4 points and 4.4 assists with 43% field goal shooting and 31% three-point shooting. Klay Thompson ranked #53.
