Top 10 Players of the Week (11/18-11/24)

With another week of the NBA season in the books, in the pocket, and out of sight, it's time to take a look at the best players of the last week. If you missed last week's, click here . If not, let's get into it, these are the 10 best players of the week. Andre Drummond While they aren't having a great season so far, the start of the year has to be seen as a positive for the Detroit Pistons. After posting a sub-.500 record this past year, the Pistons have been able to put up a 9-7 record, giving them the fifth-best record in the Eastern Conference. This past week, the Pistons were able to go 2-1 behind the strong play of their frontcourt. The first member of that frontcourt I'll talk about is Andre Drummond, who is having the best season of his career right now, and this week was no different. For the week, Drummond averaged 22 points, 15.7 rebounds, a steal and 3 blocks per game while shooting 55% from the field. Drummond's best performance of the week c...

Top 10 Players of the Week (10/28-11/3)

With another week of the NBA season in the books, in the pocket, and out of sight, it's time to take a look at the best players of the last week. If you missed last week's, click here . If not, let's get into it, these are the 10 best players of the week. DeMar DeRozan As the season continues to move forward, the more it looks like the DeMar DeRozan-Kawhi Leonard trade was a rare one where both teams won. While the Spurs do have a slightly worse record than the Raptors right now, they still hold a 6-2 record on the season and are currently in third in the Western Conference. This week, the Spurs went a perfect 3-0, and it was mostly thanks to their new star player in DeMar DeRozan. For the week, DeRozan averaged 28.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, 5.3 assists, and 1.3 steals per game while shooting 58% from the field and a perfect 19/19 from the free throw line. DeRozan's best performance of the week came against the Dallas Mavericks when he dropped 34 points, 6 rebounds...

Top 10 Players of the Week (10/16-10/20)

The NBA season is upon us again, and with the first week (well, five days) of the season in the books, in the pocket, and out of sight, it's time for me to give my thoughts on the best players of the week. WIth that short intro out of the way, here are the 10 best players from the past week of the NBA season. Joel Embiid Following up on a great season that ended in disappointing fashion last year, the Philidelphia 76ers are looking to rebound and potentially take the top spot in the Eastern Conference now that LeBron James has gone west. A 2-1 start through their first three games isn't perfect, but it's still a strong start, and the person they can thank the most for this continued success is their start player Joel Embiid. For the past week, Embiid averaged 28.3 points, 10.7 rebounds, and two blocks per game while shooting 51% from the field and 33% from three-point range. Don't be surprised if the 76ers find their way into the Eastern Conference Finals this ye...

10 Best Players of the Week (3/4-3/10)

With another week of the NBA season in the books, in the pocket, and out of sight, it's time to take a look at the best players of the last week. If you missed last week's, click here . If not, let's get into it, these are the 10 best players of the week. DeMar DeRozan While everyone expected the Toronto Raptors to do again this season, I don't kniow if anyone expected to them to be this good. Currently holding a 48-17 record on the season, the Raptors currently sit at the top of the Eastern Conference with the third best record in the league and have clinched a playoff berth. This week, the Raptors showed why they are the top team in the East by going 4-0, extending their current win streak to 7. Leading the way for the Raptors this week was DeMar DeRozan. For the week, DeRozan averaged 27.3 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 5 assists per game while shooting 49% from the field and 36% from three-point range. DeRozan's best performance of the week came in a win over ...

TRADE ALERT! Blake Griffin Traded to the Detroit Pistons!

In a move that nobody saw coming, five-time all-star and 2011's Rookie of the Year Blake Griffin has been traded by the Los Angeles Clippers. In a move involving five other players and two draft picks, the Clippers have traded Griffin, along with Willie Reed and Brice Johnson, to the Detroit Pistons for Tobias Harris, Avery Bradley, Boban Marjanovic, a protected 2018 first round pick, and a second-round draft pick. Both teams find themselves just barely out of playoff contention, each sitting in the 9th seed of their conferences, so it looks like both teams are shaking things up to see if they can make a run at the playoffs. The centerpiece of this trade was obviously Blake Griffin. Despite dealing with injuries throughout the season. Griffin has been putting up some great numbers, with some (including me) considering him an all-star snub. For the season so far, Griffin is averaging 22.6 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 5.4 assists per game while shooting  44% from the field and 3...

5 Potential All-Star Replacements for DeMarcus Cousins

I was all prepared to start writing my list for the top all-star snubs...then this happened. Last night, DeMarcus Cousins' MVP-caliber season came to an end following an awkward landing in a game against the Houston Rockets. Cousins ended up tearing his left Achilles tendon, ending his season after 48 games. While this has big implications for the New Orleans Pelicans, this also changes the All-Star game big time, as Cousins was set to start for Team LeBron at the center position. Who will replace Cousins? That's still yet to be decided, so here are five players I think should fill that spot. As for the requirements, I'm not sure exactly how they'll replace Cousins, but for the sake of this list, these are my requirements. They must be from the Western Conference. They must be either a forward or a center. They have to have played in at least half of the games this season. So with that out of the way, let's get into this. These are my picks for potential...

7 Players Who Should Make the All-Reserves (Western Conference)

Yesterday, the NBA announced the starters for the 2018 All-Star Game and named leading vote-getters LeBron James & Stephen Curry as the team captains. With 10 all-star spots in the books, that leaves 14 spots left, 7 for each conference. Today, I'm going to give my thoughts on who I think should be the reserves. I've already done the Eastern Conference , so here are 7 players I think should make the all-star game from the Western Conference. Russell Westbrook Let's start with the obvious one. And when I say obvious, I mean blatantly obvious. The reigning MVP, Russell Westbrook has continued to put up fantastic numbers for the Oklahoma City Thunder, who currently sit at a 25-20 record on the year. Even with the additions of Paul George and Carmelo Anthony, Westbrook is still averaging a near triple-double on the year and has consistently been one of the best players in the league. For the season, Westbrook is averaging 24.8 points, 9.7 rebounds, a league-high 9.9...

10 Best Players of the Week (11/19-11/25)

With another week of the NBA season in the books, in the pocket, and out of sight, it's time to take a look at the best players of the last week. If you missed last week's, click here. If not, let's get into it, these are the 10 best players of the week. Damian Lillard Despite playing in the stacked Western Conference, the Portland Trail Blazers have been able to hold their own for the most part this season, currently holding the 4th best record in the conference with a 12-8 record. This week, the Blazers were able to improve their record big time after going 3-1, with Damian Lillard leading the way. For the week, Lillard averaged 28.3 points, 4 rebounds, and 5.3 assists while shooting 45% from the field, 42% from three-point range, and 91% from the free throw line. Kyrie Irving Everyone that wrote off the Boston Celtics after Gordon Hayward twisted his ankle 90 degrees around was dead wrong. Despite losing their second best player for the entire season and dea...

10 Best Players of the Week (10/17-10/21)

With the first week (well, five days) of the NBA season in the books, I thought I'd take a look at the 10 players who excelled to start off the year. With that in mind, here are the 10 best players from the last week. James Harden The Chris Paul-era might not have gotten off the best start for them, but the Houston Rockets are still putting up wins as they've won all three of their first games. Despite losing Chris Paul in the first game to injury and losing key players like Lou Williams and Patrick Beverly in the trade that got them Paul, James Harden has continued to lead the Rockets and maintain their status as one of the best teams in the Western Conference. For the week, Harden averaged 27.7 points, 4 rebounds, 8.7 assists, and 1.7 steals while shooting 44% from the field and 39% from three-point range. The Harden-led Rockets are already a great team, and once CP3 comes back and (hopefully) adjusts to the team, the Houston Rockets could be scary. LaMarcus Aldridge ...
