15 Best Players of the Month (January 2018)

With another month of the NBA season on the books, in the pocket, and out of sight, let's take a look at the best 15 players from the month of January. If you want to read last month's list, click here . If you want to read all my Players of the Week lists from December, then you can click on the links below. (December 31-January 6) (January 7-January 13) (January 14-January 20) (January 21-January 27) Now let's get into it, these are my picks for the best 15 players of the month of January. Jimmy Butler The further along the season goes, the more the Minnesota Timberwolves look like a team that'll be future NBA Champions. Currently holding a 33-22 record, the Timberwolves sit in the 4th seed in the Western Conference and have the 6th best record in the entire league. The current starting five they have is great right now, but the key factor was the offseason addition of three-time (now four-time) all-star in Jimmy Butler. After a bit of an underwh...

10 Best Players of the Week (1/14-1/20)

With another week of the NBA season in the books, in the pocket, and out of sight, it's time to take a look at the best players of the last week. If you missed last week's, click here . If not, let's get into it, these are the 10 best players of the week. Chris Paul James Harden did not have a good week this week. He shot below 40% from the field and averaged less than 20 points per game this week, which is the first time that has happened this season. However, the Houston Rockets still have a great player who was able to lead them to a to a 2-1 record on the week, and that player is Chris Paul for the week. For the week, Paul averaged 23.7 points, 7.7 rebounds, 7.7 assists, and 2 steals per game while shooting 49% from the field and 45% from three-point range. Paul's best performance of the week came in a win over the Golden State Warriors where he put up 33 points, 11 rebounds, 7 assists, and 3 steals. Kevin Durant Even with the Rockets on their tails in ...

7 Players Who Should Make the All-Reserves (Western Conference)

Yesterday, the NBA announced the starters for the 2018 All-Star Game and named leading vote-getters LeBron James & Stephen Curry as the team captains. With 10 all-star spots in the books, that leaves 14 spots left, 7 for each conference. Today, I'm going to give my thoughts on who I think should be the reserves. I've already done the Eastern Conference , so here are 7 players I think should make the all-star game from the Western Conference. Russell Westbrook Let's start with the obvious one. And when I say obvious, I mean blatantly obvious. The reigning MVP, Russell Westbrook has continued to put up fantastic numbers for the Oklahoma City Thunder, who currently sit at a 25-20 record on the year. Even with the additions of Paul George and Carmelo Anthony, Westbrook is still averaging a near triple-double on the year and has consistently been one of the best players in the league. For the season, Westbrook is averaging 24.8 points, 9.7 rebounds, a league-high 9.9...

10 Best Players of the Week (1/7-1/13)

With another week of the NBA season in the books, in the pocket, and out of sight, it's time to take a look at the best players of the last week. If you missed last week's, click here . If not, let's get into it, these are the 10 best players of the week. Damian Lillard The Portland Trail Blazers really needed a strong week to push them ahead in the Western Conference. Instead, the split 4 games and went 2-2 on the week, giving them a 22-20 record on the season. They now find themselves in the 6th seed in the Western Conference, only one game ahead of the 9th seed-Los Angeles Clippers. Despite their bad week, one of their players had a great showing, and that was Damian Lillard. For the week, Lillard averaged 26 points, 8 assists, and 2.5 steals per game while shooting 47% from the field.  Kevin Durant Coming off a week that saw him miss two games, Kevin Durant returned to the court following a calf injury. After missing one game this week, Durant helped lead t...

10 Best Players of the Week (12/10-12/16)

With another week of the NBA season in the books, in the pocket, and out of sight, it's time to take a look at the best players of the last week. If you missed last week's, click here . If not, let's get into it, these are the 10 best players of the week. James Harden The Houston Rockets have been red hot all season so far, as they currently hold the best record in the league and are currently on a 13-game win streak. This week, the Rockets added four more wins to their record, with James Harden being one of the leaders on the team despite playing through a knee injury. For the week, Harden averaged 26.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 9 assists, and 2.3 steals per game while shooting 32% from three-point range. His best performance came against the New Orleans Pelicans where he put up 26 points, 17 assists, and 6 steals. Chris Paul James Harden was a big part of the Rockets' continued success this week, but he wasn't alone. Along for the ride was Chris Paul, who h...

8 NBA Draft Day Mistakes

When it comes to the NBA Draft, hindsight is 20-20. No matter how much scouting a team does, you can never tell for sure how good a college prospect will adapt to the NBA. With that in mind, some decisions have come back to bite certain teams in the ass. Whether it be drafting a bust right before taking an All-Star or trading away a bust for an All-Star, these decisions have gone on to haunt teams & fans for a long time. Here are 7 mistakes made on draft day. Drafting Al-Farouq Aminu over Gordon Hayward & Paul George (2010) Let's start with a simple one where a team selected an OK player over future all-stars. Coming off a poor 2009-10 season where they went 29-53, the Los Angeles Clippers got the #8 overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft and opted to select a small forward to replace Rasual Butler and pair up with Blake Griffen, who would be debuting next season after missing his entire rookie season due to injury. There were three viable options to choose from with the...
