The 2020 NBA Offseason: A Rundown

Thanks to the COVID-19 and the absolute dumpster fire of a year that 2020 has been, the NBA is back! Will the Lakers repeat as champions? Will the Houston Rockets completely implode and trade James Harden? Will the 2021 NBA Draft just be Sam Presti making 60 straight picks? We'll have to wait and see, but for now, with the season just a week away, I'm taking a look back and what went down in this shortened offseason.  Atlanta Hawks Following a disappointing year that saw them regress from the previous year, the Atlanta Hawks looked to strengthen their core around Trae Young. For starters, they've added Danillo Gallinari, who's coming off a strong season in Oklahoma City and has been one of the more underrated players in the league over the last few years, through a sign-and-trade deal. Additionally, the Hawks added Bogdan Bogdanović, another strong scorer, from Sacramento after his move to Milwaukee fell through, and could round out a potentially impressive starting fiv...

TRADE ALERT: Jimmy Butler Headed To Philidelphia

The long, heavily publicized falling out between Jimmy Butler and the Minnesota Timberwolves has finally come to a close. The Timberwolves have agreed to send their all-star Butler, along with young center Justin Patton, to the Philidelphia 76ers for Robert Covington, Dario Saric, Jerryd Bayless, and a 2020 second-round pick. Butler's tenure in Minnesota ends after just over one season, during which the Timberwolves made the playoffs for the first time in 13 years. However, growing contempt between Butler and the Timberwolves organization boiled over this offseason, with Butler demanding a trade away from the team. The Timberwolves have struggled early in the season with the unhappy all-star, going 4-9 and have lost five straight games. It was clear the team needed to make a change, with sources saying that coach Tom Thibodeau had decided that the team could not function with Butler on the roster anymore. While his well-publicized drama and actions may have hurt him in the e...

TRADE ALERT: The Cleveland Cavaliers Made Four Trades in One Day

Considering how the Cleveland Cavaliers have been having a pretty rough season. considered one of the best teams in the NBA just last season, the Cavaliers aren't even a top-five team in the league right now, as they currently sit with a 30-21 record on the season and with the 3rd seed in the Eastern Conference, just half a game ahead of the 4th seed Washington Wizards. They've struggled with inconsistency over the last few months and several players (Isaiah Thomas & Jae Crowder to name a few) have been woefully under-performing. It was clear changes they need to be made, and with the trade deadline being today, they needed to be made quickly. And they did. The day before the trade deadline, the Cavaliers made four separate trades, sending away six players and a first-round pick for four new players and a second-round pick. The Cavs sent Isaiah Thomas & Channing Frye to the Los Angeles Lakers for Jordan Clarkson and Larry Nance Jr., Derrick Rose & Jae Crowder to ...

TRADE ALERT! Blake Griffin Traded to the Detroit Pistons!

In a move that nobody saw coming, five-time all-star and 2011's Rookie of the Year Blake Griffin has been traded by the Los Angeles Clippers. In a move involving five other players and two draft picks, the Clippers have traded Griffin, along with Willie Reed and Brice Johnson, to the Detroit Pistons for Tobias Harris, Avery Bradley, Boban Marjanovic, a protected 2018 first round pick, and a second-round draft pick. Both teams find themselves just barely out of playoff contention, each sitting in the 9th seed of their conferences, so it looks like both teams are shaking things up to see if they can make a run at the playoffs. The centerpiece of this trade was obviously Blake Griffin. Despite dealing with injuries throughout the season. Griffin has been putting up some great numbers, with some (including me) considering him an all-star snub. For the season so far, Griffin is averaging 22.6 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 5.4 assists per game while shooting  44% from the field and 3...
