NBA Team of the Week (11/10-11/16)

With another week of the NBA season in the books, it's time for me to give my picks for the Team of the Week. Click here to read last week's edition . If you want to go back and take a look at all the previous Team of the Week posts from the current season, then click here . So with that out of the way, this is the NBA Team of the Week. Point Guard: James Harden The Rockets have had a strong start to the season already, but this week they turned it up to 11 and went a perfect 4-0, improving their record to 10-3, the 2nd best in the Western Conference and only half a game behind 1st. Leading the way for the Rockets was James Harden, who's lackluster shooting hasn't been enough to slow him down, especially this week. For the week, Harden averaged 44.8 points, 5.8 rebounds, 6.8 assists, and 2.3 steals per game while shooting 46% from the field and 40% from three-point range. Harden recorded over 45 points in two of the four games this week, the best of which was a 4...

NBA Team of the Week (11/3-11/9)

With another week of the NBA season in the books, it's time for me to give my picks for the Team of the Week. Click here to read last week's edition.  Now before I start, I just want to mention that, for these, I don't pick players who's teams performed poorly that week. If a player averages 40 points a game for a week, but his team does nothing but lose, then what's the point. That being said, D'Angelo Russell & Damian Lillard aren't getting the nods this week, but they will get reserve spots. So with that out of the way, this is the NBA Team of the Week. Point Guard: Luka Doncic After three underwhelming seasons, the Mavericks have had a strong start to the season, going 6-3 early in the year after going 3-1 this week. The addition of Kristaps Porzingis has proven to be very beneficial very quickly, but the true leader of the Mavericks has been the reigning Rookie of the Year in Luka Doncic. For the week, Doncic averaged 29.5 points, 12.3 rebou...

NBA Team of the Week (10/27-11/2)

With another week of the NBA season in the books, it's time for me to give my picks for the Team of the Week. Click here to read last week's edition . So with that out of the way, this is the NBA Team of the Week. Point Guard: Damian Lillard Following a disappointing end to last season when they got swept in the Conference Finals, a strong start to the 2019-20 season was necessary for the Trail Blazers to re-establish themselves as one of the top teams in the league. So far, they've been less than impressive, as they're currently 3-3 following a 2-2 outing this past week. While the team hasn't been anything special so far, Damian Lillard has still been performing at the top of his game, and this week was no different. For the week, Lillard averaged 28 points, 6 rebounds, 8.5 assists, and 1.3 steals per game while shooting 45% from the field and 43% from three-point range. Lillard's best performance of the week was a 23 point, 13 assist double-double to p...

NBA Team of the Week (10/22-10/26)

The 2019-20 NBA season is upon us, and with the first week (well, five days) in the books, it's time to look at who were the best players in the league during that time. Now, in the past I've done the best players of the week and just that. However, I've come to realize that the way I ranked the players favored big men a lot more than guards. That would explain why Dwight Howard was getting player of the week spots over guys like DeMar DeRozan, a player few would argue that Howard was better than in 2018. So now, I'm doing a "Team of the Week", similar to what Pro Football Focus does with the NFL. So with that out of the way, this is the NBA's Team of the Week for the past week. Point Guard: Trae Young While they haven't faced the toughest competition to start the season, the Atlanta Hawks come out of the gates hot, winning both of their games in the first week. That success is mostly thanks to Trae Young, who has had one of the best starts to...

11 Players With the Most to Prove in the 2019-20 Season

With the 2019-20 NBA season just about two months away, there is no shortage of players who are looking to make their mark in the league. From the incoming class of rookies to the star players now on championship-contending teams, they're all looking to prove something to everyone. Then there are these 11 players. From former all-stars looking to rebound after a rough season to sophomores looking to wash away the stink of a mediocre rookie season, these are the players that have more to prove than anyone else in the league. Now, I did want to give two honorable mentions to Bol Bol and Cam Reddish for this list. Bol was projected to be a lottery that slid all the way to the middle of the second round. He'll be looking to prove to everyone that he is still the lottery-level talent he was projected to be, but based on his draft position, I'm not sure if he'll be on the roster or in the G-League for most of the season. Reddish, on the other hand, had an underwhelming seaso...

Los Angeles Clippers Acquire Kawhi Leonard AND Paul George

It was no secret that the Los Angeles Clippers were among the favorites to land the reigning Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard. Not only did they manage to sign the Leonard away from the defending champion Toronto Raptors, but they also acquired one of the best players in the league today along the way. Along with Leonard, the Clippers completed a trade with the Oklahoma City Thunder to get MVP-candidate Paul George in exchange for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Danilo Gallinari, four unprotected first-round picks (The Clippers' 2022, 2024, and 2026 picks and the Miami Heat's 2021 pick), the Clippers lottery protected 2023 first-round pick, and the right to swap picks with the Clippers in 2023 and 2025. Aside from the Brooklyn Nets, it's hard to argue that any team has had a bigger offseason than the Los Angeles Clippers after these huge moves. First off, they're adding Kawhi Leonard on a 4-year, $140.79 million deal. As I said, Leonard is coming off a single season with the Ra...

What Every Team Did On Day One of Free Agency

Day one of the 2019 NBA Free Agency is in the books. With nearly $3 billion dollars spent on 60 different players, it might be a bit challenging to know where everyone is going with all the different breaking news stories and occasional Woj Bomb. So that's why I'm here. I'll go through what each team gained and what they lost, and what I think of all the moves. Atlanta Hawks Following last year's official start of their rebuild, the Hawks still had a bad season going 29-53 on the year. However, they do have a talented young core to build around in Trae Young, John Collins, and Kevin Huerter. Along with adding DeAndre Hunter and Cam Reddish through the draft, a solid free agent signing could be just what the team needed to make a potential push for a playoff spot. That was not the case. The Hawks failed to sign anyone and in the process lost Dewayne Dedmon to the Sacramento Kings. Luckily, Dedmon was the only important free agent they had, so the damage isn...
