NBA Team of the Week (5/9/21-5/15/21)

Welcome to the final Team of the Week of the 2020-21 NBA season. Normally, I write these on Sunday and then post them on Monday, but given the fact that the season officially ended this past Sunday, I thought it was best to just wait a day so the standings are officially set. This week will just look at the past week and Sunday's games won't count in this. Now then, onto the Team of the Week. Selections are based mostly on the player's stats, but (minus the rookie of the week) their team's record during the week is also taken into consideration. Click here to check out last week's if you missed it . If not, let's get into this. Point Guard: Damian Lillard It came down to the wire, but the Portland Trail Blazers have locked in a playoff spot. Tied with the Lakers heading into the last day of the season and holding the advantage in the tiebreaker, the Blazers needed to win their final game against the Nuggets, and they pulled it off. They'll enter the playoffs...

NBA Team of the Week (4/25/21-5/1/21)

It's Monday, you know what that means! It's time to take a look back at the past week and see who the best players were around the league. Selections are based mostly on the player's stats, but (minus the rookie of the week) their team's record during the week is also taken into consideration. Click here to check out last week's if you missed it . If not, let's get into this. Point Guard: Luka Dončić With just under two weeks left of the season, most teams are fighting for their spots in the postseason, whether that be in the actual playoffs or in the play-in tournament. One of those teams is the Dallas Mavericks, who are having a strong season but aren't safe just yet. Currently sitting at 36-27 on the year, the Mavericks hold the 5th seed in the West right now, but are only a game ahead of the current top seed in the play-in tournament. The Mavericks are in a good place right now after a 3-1 week, but they'll need to keep up that quality of play to loc...

NBA Team of the Week (4/4/21-4/10/21)

It's Monday, you know what that means! It's time to take a look back at the past week and see who the best players were around the league. Selections are based mostly on the player's stats, but (minus the rookie of the week) their team's record during the week is also taken into consideration. Click here to check out last week's if you missed it . If not, let's get into this. Point Guard: Stephen Curry As I said last week, the Golden State Warriors have been going through a rough patch the last few years. While they're not nearly as bad as they were last season, injuries have kept the Warriors well below where they were just two years. Currently 25-28 on the year after a 2-2 week, the Warriors find themselves in 10th in the West, holding onto the final spot in the play-in tournament by just a game and a half. The Warriors are holding on by a thread, and it's been Stephen Curry who's been keeping them afloat this year. For the week, Curry averaged 3...

NBA Team of the Week (3/21/21-3/27/21)

It's Monday, you know what that means! It's time to take a look back at the past week and see who the best players were around the league. Selections are based mostly on the player's stats, but (minus the rookie of the week) their team's record during the week is also taken into consideration. Click here to check out last week's if you missed it . If not, let's get into this. Point Guard: De'Aaron Fox As they're on the hunt for their first playoff appearance since 2006, the Sacramento Kings haven't had the best season. Coming into this past week at 17-25, they were well out of playoff contention. This week, however, the Kings were red hot, going a perfect 4-0 and improving their record to 21-25 on the year. While they're still out of the playoff hunt right now, sitting at 11th in the West and a game behind Warriors for the final spot in the play-in tournament. The Kings had two standout performers this week, and the first I'll be talking abo...

NBA Team of the Week (3/14/21-3/20/21)

( NOTE :  Before I begin, I just wanted to give my condolences to the family of Elgin Baylor. Rest in Peace to one of the greatest players in the history of the game) It's Monday, you know what that means! It's time to take a look back at the past week and see who the best players were around the league. Selections are based mostly on the player's stats, but (minus the rookie of the week) their team's record during the week is also taken into consideration. Click here to check out last week's if you missed it . If not, let's get into this. Point Guard: Damian Lillard After a brief hiccup where they lost four straight to end February, the Portland Trail Blazers are back on track, as they've gone 7-2 in their last nine games. This includes this week's strong 3-1 outing, which has improved their record to 25-16 on the year, putting them at joint 5th in the West with the Nuggets. The return of CJ McCollum this week has obviously been huge for the team, but D...

NBA Team of the Week (3/7/21-3/13/21)

It's Monday, you know what that means! It's time to take a look back at the past week and see who the best players were around the league. Selections are based mostly on the player's stats, but (minus the rookie of the week) their team's record during the week is also taken into consideration. Click here to check out last week's if you missed it . If not, let's get into this. Point Guard: De'Aaron Fox In a season where they're looking to finally make the playoffs for the first time since 2006, the Sacramento Kings have been struggling. After going on a nine-game losing streak at the end of February, the team has traded wins-and-loses and now sit at 15-23 on the season, the third-worst in the West right now. This week was more of the same, as the team went 1-1, but if there's anything positive to take away from the last seven days, it's the excellent play of De'Aaron Fox. Fresh off an all-star snub , Fox came out with a vengeance, averaging 31...

NBA Team of the Week (2/28/21-3/6/21)

It's Monday, you know what that means! It's time to take a look back at the past week and see who the best players were around the league. Selections are based mostly on the player's stats, but (minus the rookie of the week) their team's record during the week is also taken into consideration. Click here to check out last week's if you missed it . If not, let's get into this. Point Guard: Damian Lillard As All-Star weekend comes to a close as I write this, we've pretty much hit the halfway mark of the season. The playoff race is starting to come to a close, and right now, the Portland Trail Blazers are looking good. Currently sitting at 5th in the West with a 21-14 record, a perfect 3-0 outing certainly helped strengthen their position in the playoff hunt. There were multiple players responsible for the Blazers' success this week, and one of them was Damian Lillard. For the week, Portland's sole all-star averaged 29.7 points, 7.7 assists, and 1.7 ste...
