Heat Check: What Made the 2011 Dallas Mavericks So Special

In this fall... this is very tough... in this fall I'm going to take my talents to South Beach and join the Miami Heat. Those words, uttered by LeBron James on July 8, 2010 from the Boys and Girls Club of Greenwich, Connecticut, seemed to write the conclusion of the upcoming NBA season right there and then. James, the reigning and two-time MVP, was joining the Miami Heat and teaming up with Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. Between the three of them in 2010 were James' two-MVPs, 17 all-star selections, and six All-NBA 1st team selections. All of this while the three were still in their primes and all under 30. The early 2010s looked like they were going to be ruled by the Miami Heat, and the 2010-11 season would be their official coronation. The preseason odds put the Heat at +175 , the best in the league. The Heat would post one of the best records in the league that season before costing to the NBA Finals, never going beyond Game 5 in each of the first three rounds of the playoff...

11 Players Who Should've Played on One Team Their Whole Career

Close your eyes and try to picture this; Tim Duncan, one of the greatest players in basketball history. He's down in the paint, backing down a defender...while wearing a Phoenix Suns jersey. You can't do it, can you? What about an Atlanta Hawks jersey? Not that one either, right? How about anything other than a San Antonio Spurs jersey? It's impossible, isn't it? Some players have become so synonymous with certain teams that it's impossible to imagine them playing for anyone else. Just imagining Kobe Bryant or Magic Johnson not playing for the Lakers is practically out of the question, and guys like Stephen Curry have made it hard to see them any other team. Of course, for guys like Curry, playing for one team their entire career isn't the case. Sometimes they get traded away, sometimes they sign with another team, sometimes they come out of retirement, but whatever way it happens, they are moves that ended career-long runs with one team. With that being said...

TRADE ALERT: The Cleveland Cavaliers Made Four Trades in One Day

Considering how the Cleveland Cavaliers have been having a pretty rough season. considered one of the best teams in the NBA just last season, the Cavaliers aren't even a top-five team in the league right now, as they currently sit with a 30-21 record on the season and with the 3rd seed in the Eastern Conference, just half a game ahead of the 4th seed Washington Wizards. They've struggled with inconsistency over the last few months and several players (Isaiah Thomas & Jae Crowder to name a few) have been woefully under-performing. It was clear changes they need to be made, and with the trade deadline being today, they needed to be made quickly. And they did. The day before the trade deadline, the Cavaliers made four separate trades, sending away six players and a first-round pick for four new players and a second-round pick. The Cavs sent Isaiah Thomas & Channing Frye to the Los Angeles Lakers for Jordan Clarkson and Larry Nance Jr., Derrick Rose & Jae Crowder to ...

Dwyane Wade Signs With the Cleveland Cavaliers

The Cleveland Cavaliers have a had a strong showing this offseason, and it just keeps getting better. In addition to adding the likes of Isaiah Thomas, Derrick Rose, and Jae Crowder to the team, Dwyane Wade has officially joined the Cavaliers on a one-year, $2.3 million deal. Wade had agreed to a buyout of his contract with the Chicago Bulls only three days prior and now joins a Cavaliers team coming off a season where they made their third straight NBA finals appearance. The signing also reunites Wade with LeBron James, who together with Wade led the Miami Heat to two NBA Championships victories and four straight finals appearances along with Chris Bosh But most importantly, the Cleveland Cavaliers now have 2/3s...of the Banana Boat. Truly, the Cavs are now a force to be reckoned with. Wade is coming off a single season with the Bulls where he averaged 18.3 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.4 steals while shooting 43% from the field. As a Bull, Wade acted as the second scoring opti...

7 MORE NBA Draft Day Mistakes

Recently, I took a look at 8 of the biggest mistakes ever made on draft day, which you can read by clicking here . Needless to say, there are more than just 8 draft day mistakes that have been made in the history of the NBA. With that being said, here are 7 more draft day mistakes. Trading Scottie Pippen for Olden Polynice (1987) Let's start this off with the first of two trades on this list. In the 1987 NBA Draft, the Seatle SuperSonics used the #5 overall pick to select Scottie Pippen out of Central Arkansas. However, they then decided to trade Pippen to the Chicago Bulls for the #8 overall pick Olden Polynice. That would end up being a big mistake. Polynice's career wasn't terrible, but it wasn't worth trading away their pick for him. Polynice had career averages of 7.8 points & 6.7 rebounds per game while shooting 50%. He spent the majority of his career bouncing around the NBA, playing on five different teams during his fifteen-year career. While not...
