Selections are based mostly on the player's stats, but (minus the rookie of the week) their team's record during the week is also taken into consideration. Point Guard: Stephen Curry We're on the home stretch of the year, as there are just six days left of the NBA season when this goes up. With only seven teams having locked down a playoff spot and only six being eliminated from contention, over half the teams in the league are still competing for their spot in the postseason. One of those teams is the Golden State Warriors, who have fought through plenty of injuries and hardships to stay in the playoff hunt. Currently, 35-33 on the season after a 3-1 week, the Warriors currently sit at 8th in the West, four games out of the official play...

Point Guard: Damian Lillard With the Western Conference remaining the stacked conference in the NBA, the Portland Trail Blazers might be getting lost in the shuffle a bit. However, they are having far from a bad season, as they're currently 18-11 on the year. Despite the extended absence of their second-best player in CJ McCollum, the Blazers remain a strong team in the West, going 3-1 this past week. And surprisingly, Damian Lillard has been the reason the Blazers have remained strong. For the week, Lillard averaged 35.8 points, 5 rebounds, 12.3 assists, and 1.3 steals per game while s...

Point Guard: Luka Dončić After an underwhelming start to the year where they went 2-3, the Dallas Mavericks have rebounded in a big way this past week, going 3-1 and improving to 5-4 on the year. This bounce-back can be attributed to strong performances by the supporting cast, specifically Tim Hardaway Jr, but the clear leader for this team this past week was Luka Dončić. In the three games he played this week, the Mavericks went undefeated while Dončić averaged a triple-double 30.3 points, 12 rebounds, and 11.3 assists per game while shooting 48% from the field and 31% from three-point range and adding two steals a game. During the week, Dončić recorded two triple-doubles, the best of which came in the win over the Rockets when he recorded 33 points,...

They've struggled with inconsistency over the last few months and several players (Isaiah Thomas & Jae Crowder to name a few) have been woefully under-performing. It was clear changes they need to be made, and with the trade deadline being today, they needed to be made quickly. And they did.
