ANOTHER 5 Draft Day Mistakes

With another NBA Draft recently taken place, I thought what better time to take a look back at some of the biggest mistakes that have ever been made on draft day. While I've already looked at this topic not once , but twice , there are still draft day moments that, in hindsight, have GMs kicking themselves over the decisions they made. With that out of the way, here are 5 more NBA draft day mistakes. Drafting Michael Olowokandi (1998) Back before Anthony Bennett pretty much became everyone's favorite punching bag, few would argue that the title of the worst #1 draft pick in NBA history belonged to Michael Olowokandi. Opting to enter the 1998 NBA Draft after a junior year where he averaged 22.2 points, 11.2 rebounds, and 2.9 blocks per game. While Pacific's schedule was rather weak (they had a strength of schedule rating of -0.56), those are still impressive stats. So impressive that the Los Angeles Clippers decided to use the top pick in the draft to select him, pas...

7 Players Who Should Make the All-Star Reserves (Eastern Conference)

Yesterday, the NBA announced the starters for the 2018 All-Star Game and named leading vote-getters LeBron James & Stephen Curry as the team captains. With 10 all-star spots in the books, that leaves 14 spots left, 7 for each conference. Today, I'm going to give my thoughts on who I think should be the reserves. Starting with the Eastern Conference, here are 7 players I think should make the all-star game. Andre Drummond His team might be having the strongest season so far (the Detroit Pistons are 22-21 on the year), but Andre Drummond has been having a fantastic season. Drummond has been putting up some of the best numbers of his career, is having his best season since his all-star selection in 2016, and has shown a huge improvement in his free throw shooting. For the season so far, Drummond averages 14.5 points, a league & career-high 15 rebounds, a career-high 3.8 assists per game, a career-high 1.6 steals, and 1.2 blocks per game while shooting 54% from the fiel...

10 Best Players of the Week (11/5-11/11)

With another week of the NBA season in the books, in the pocket, and out of sight, it's time to take a look at the best players of the last week. If you missed last week's, click here . If not, let's get into it, these are the 10 best players of the week. Harrison Barnes The Dallas Mavericks have about as bad of a start to the season as the possibly could, currently sitting at a 2-11 record and are tied with the Atlanta Hawks for the worst record in the NBA right now. However, one person who was a slight bright spot for the team was Harrison Barnes, who had a strong performance this week. For the week, Barnes averaged 27 points and 10.5 rebounds per game while shooting 54% from the field and 57% from three-point range. If only played for a team that wasn't hot garbage. Kevin Durant As the Golden State Warriors continue to be one of the best teams in the NBA (surprising no one), Kevin Durant took the lead this week and helped the Warriors win both of their gam...

10 Best Players of the Week (10/29-11/4)

With another week of the NBA season in the books, in the pocket, and out of sight, it's time to take a look at the best players of the last week. If you missed last week's, click here. If not, let's get into it, these are the 10 best players of the week. Joel Embiid The Process worked. This week it did, at least. The Philidelphia 76ers had a strong showing this week, winning all three of their games and improving to 5-4 on the week. There great week was mostly thanks to two specific players. The first of which was Joel Embiid. For the week, Embiid averaged 20.3 points, 10 rebounds, 5.3 assists, 2.3 steals, and 2 blocks per game while shooting 58% from the field. Stephen Curry As expected, the Golden State Warriors have straightened out following their early struggles in the season, currently sitting at the top of the Western Conference with a 7-3 record after going 2-1 on the week. Stephen Curry, as he was last week and has been for many years, was a big part of...

10 Best Players of the Week (10/17-10/21)

With the first week (well, five days) of the NBA season in the books, I thought I'd take a look at the 10 players who excelled to start off the year. With that in mind, here are the 10 best players from the last week. James Harden The Chris Paul-era might not have gotten off the best start for them, but the Houston Rockets are still putting up wins as they've won all three of their first games. Despite losing Chris Paul in the first game to injury and losing key players like Lou Williams and Patrick Beverly in the trade that got them Paul, James Harden has continued to lead the Rockets and maintain their status as one of the best teams in the Western Conference. For the week, Harden averaged 27.7 points, 4 rebounds, 8.7 assists, and 1.7 steals while shooting 44% from the field and 39% from three-point range. The Harden-led Rockets are already a great team, and once CP3 comes back and (hopefully) adjusts to the team, the Houston Rockets could be scary. LaMarcus Aldridge ...

4 Eastern Conference Players Who Will Fill the Voids in the All-Star Team This Year

This offseason has seen several big moves, specifically in the Eastern Conference. Four of the 2017 Eastern Conference All-Stars have all moved from the East to the Western Conference, with Jimmy Butler, Paul George, and Carmelo Anthony all being traded to teams in the West while Paul Millsap signed with the Denver Nuggets. That leaves four spaces open on the East's All-Star Team for the 2017-18 season, and here are four players I think will take those spots. The only person exempt from this list is Kevin Love, who actually did make the All-Star team last year but had to pull out because of an injury and was replaced by Anthony. But with that out of the way, here are the 4 players I think will make the All-Star team this year in the Eastern Conference to replace the four who left. Gordon Hayward Let's start with the obvious one in the only Western Conference All-Star who moved to the Eastern Conference. Last season, Hayward made his first All-Star appearance as a memb...
