NBA Team of the Week (4/18/21-4/24/21)

It's Monday, you know what that means! It's time to take a look back at the past week and see who the best players were around the league. Selections are based mostly on the player's stats, but (minus the rookie of the week) their team's record during the week is also taken into consideration. Click here to check out last week's if you missed it . If not, let's get into this. Point Guard: Luka Dončić While they're in playoff contention right now, the Dallas Mavericks have been a bit disappointing this year. Having an early MVP front runner and one of the better centers in the league, I said before the season started that the Mavericks look like they have a bright future ahead of them. However, we haven't seen that bright future just yet. They're currently 6th in the West right now and hold a playoff spot, but you'd expect more from the team that has one of the absolute best players in the league right now. Things have been looking up in April, ...

NBA Team of the Week (4/11/21-4/17/21)

It's Monday, you know what that means! It's time to take a look back at the past week and see who the best players were around the league. Selections are based mostly on the player's stats, but (minus the rookie of the week) their team's record during the week is also taken into consideration. Click here to check out last week's if you missed it . If not, let's get into this. Point Guard: Stephen Curry Starting off this week we have someone who has been absolutely on fire over the last few weeks in Stephen Curry. As I've mentioned the last few weeks, the Golden State Warriors have had a rough go of things this year. However, the last few weeks have seen them pick up steam, as they've gone 5-2 over their last seven games and currently sit at 28-29 on the year, putting them at 9th in the West. A big reason for their recent success has been Curry, who takes the point guard spot for the third straight week after a phenomenal recent stretch. In a week where...

NBA Team of the Week (11/10-11/16)

With another week of the NBA season in the books, it's time for me to give my picks for the Team of the Week. Click here to read last week's edition . If you want to go back and take a look at all the previous Team of the Week posts from the current season, then click here . So with that out of the way, this is the NBA Team of the Week. Point Guard: James Harden The Rockets have had a strong start to the season already, but this week they turned it up to 11 and went a perfect 4-0, improving their record to 10-3, the 2nd best in the Western Conference and only half a game behind 1st. Leading the way for the Rockets was James Harden, who's lackluster shooting hasn't been enough to slow him down, especially this week. For the week, Harden averaged 44.8 points, 5.8 rebounds, 6.8 assists, and 2.3 steals per game while shooting 46% from the field and 40% from three-point range. Harden recorded over 45 points in two of the four games this week, the best of which was a 4...

Los Angeles Clippers Acquire Kawhi Leonard AND Paul George

It was no secret that the Los Angeles Clippers were among the favorites to land the reigning Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard. Not only did they manage to sign the Leonard away from the defending champion Toronto Raptors, but they also acquired one of the best players in the league today along the way. Along with Leonard, the Clippers completed a trade with the Oklahoma City Thunder to get MVP-candidate Paul George in exchange for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Danilo Gallinari, four unprotected first-round picks (The Clippers' 2022, 2024, and 2026 picks and the Miami Heat's 2021 pick), the Clippers lottery protected 2023 first-round pick, and the right to swap picks with the Clippers in 2023 and 2025. Aside from the Brooklyn Nets, it's hard to argue that any team has had a bigger offseason than the Los Angeles Clippers after these huge moves. First off, they're adding Kawhi Leonard on a 4-year, $140.79 million deal. As I said, Leonard is coming off a single season with the Ra...

Top 10 Players of the Week (11/11-11/17)

With another week of the NBA season in the books, in the pocket, and out of sight, it's time to take a look at the best players of the last week. If you missed last week's, click here . If not, let's get into it, these are the 10 best players of the week. Karl-Anthony Towns Now that all the drama surrounding Jimmy Butler is in the past, the Minnesota Timberwolves are looking to get back on track after a poor 4-9 start. This week, they did just that, going a perfect 3-0 and improving to 7-9 on the season. Leading the way for the T'Wolves this past week was Butler's least favorite member of the roster, Karl-Anthony Towns. For the week, Towns averaged 21.3 points, 15.3 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks per game while shooting 56% from the field, 60% from three-point range, and 91% from the free throw line. Towns' best performance of the week came against the Brooklyn Nets. While he did turn over the ball 10 times, he did record 25 points and 21 rebounds and led Minne...

5 Most Shocking Moves This Offseason

With the new NBA season on the horizon, it's safe to say that we can pretty much close the book on the 2018 offseason. In a summer that saw LeBron James leave the Cleveland Cavaliers for a second time to head to the Los Angeles Lakers and the escalation of the Jimmy Butler drama in Minnesota, this offseason was one to remember. However, some of these moves made really came out of nowhere, and that's what I'm looking at today. Honorable mention goes to Michael Carter-Williams getting signed because...I mean, it's Michael Carter-Williams. So with that out of the way, these are the 5 most shocking moves of the 2018 offseason. Toronto Raptors Trade Away DeMar DeRozan When someone is arguably the greatest player in the history of a franchise, you'd assume that that player's spot on the roster is almost a guarantee for as long as that player wants it. That's what I imagine a lot of people thought about DeMar DeRozan. Drafted with the 9th pick in the 2009 d...

4 NBA Super Teams That Failed Miserably

To say that the NBA is dominated by super teams is about as controversial as saying that the sun is hot. It's well established at this point that in order to even compete for the NBA Championship, you're going to need at least two all-star caliber players on your roster. Sometimes they are created through the draft, such as the 2000's San Antonio Spurs and (up until 2016) the 2010's Golden State Warriors, and sometimes they are built through trades and free agency, like the Miami Heat's Big 3 or the 2008 Champions in the Boston Celtics. However, not every super team works out, and some crash and burn almost as quickly as they were formed. Whether they struggled to mesh together or a superstar or two just couldn't get along, these are four NBA super teams that failed miserably. 2017-18 Oklahoma City Thunder Starting off we have the most recent example of an NBA superteam that failed hard in the Oklahoma City Thunder from this past season. Two years prior t...

10 Best Players of the Week (2/4-2/10)

With another week of the NBA season in the books, in the pocket, and out of sight, it's time to take a look at the best players of the last week. If you missed last week's, click here . If not, let's get into it, these are the 10 best players of the week. Zach LaVine Let's be honest; nobody expected anything out of the Chicago Bulls this season. Officially going into rebuild mode following the Jimmy Butler trade and the Dwyane Wade buyout, the Bulls find themselves with a young roster that has potential to be great in the future, but not right now, and their 19-36 record on the season right now shows that. But as I said, things are looking good for the Bulls in the future, as several players have shown promise this season. And one player who just started showing promise was Zach LaVine. After missing the first three months of the season while recovering from a torn ACL, LaVine returned in January and this past week proved why the Bulls would give up their best pl...
