10 Best Players of the Week (11/12-11/18)

With another week of the NBA season in the books, in the pocket, and out of sight, it's time to take a look at the best players of the last week. If you missed last week's, click here. If not, let's get into it, these are the 10 best players of the week.

Devin Booker

With all the drama the Phoenix Suns have been surrounded in this season with one of their best players publically stating (well, tweeting) that he didn't want to be there anymore, they've still managed to avoid the bottom of the Western Conference with a 6-11 record. While they still have a long way to go before they are a playoff team, they seem to be in the right direction with Devin Booker taking the lead. For the week, Booker averaged 29 points and 5.7 assists while shooting 49% from the field and 43% from three-point range.

DeMarcus Cousins

The New Orleans Pelicans still haven't been able to find their groove this season (currently 8-8 on the season) but DeMarcus Cousins has continued to be one of the best players this season. This week, the Pelicans continued to their uneventful season, going 1-2 on the week, but Cousins didn't slow down one bit. For the week, Cousins averaged 20.3 points, 10.3 rebounds, 5.3 assists, and 2.3 steals while shooting 45% from the field and 38% from three-point range.

Karl-Anthony Towns

The Minnesota Timberwolves have seemed to meshed together well following the Jimmy Butler trade, as they currently hold a 10-5 record, the third-best record in the Western Conference. This was further established when the Timberwolves went 3-0 for the week, with Karl-Anthony Towns leading the way and continued to establish himself as one of the best young players & and one of the fastest rising stars in the league. For the week, Towns averaged 21.7 points, 13.3 rebounds, a steal and a block a game while shooting 58% from the field and 58% from three-point range.

Marc Gasol

The Memphis Grizzlies had a rough week, losing all three games they played and dropping below .500 (7-8 on the season). However, Marc Gasol had a strong week for himself despite his team's struggles. For the week, Gasol averaged 22 points, 10.7 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2.3 blocks per game while shooting 44% from the field and 36% from three-point range. Gasol's week was highlighted by a top-notch performance against the Indiana Pacers where he put up 35 points, 13 rebounds, 5 assists, and 5 blocks.

Kemba Walker

The Charlotte Hornets haven't had the smoothest season so far, currently sitting at a 6-9 record while also going 1-2 for the week. However, Kemba Walker had a strong week as he continues his top-notch play from this season and the last season. For the week, Walker averaged 31 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 6 assists while shooting 53% from the field and 52% from three-point range. Walker's best performance on the week came against the Chicago Bulls when he put up 47 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists.

Ben Simmons

Ben Simmons has been pretty much been the unanimous choice for Rookie of the Year this early in the season, as he has been putting up borderline all-star numbers in the first month of the season. This week was no different, as he led the Philadelphia 76ers (along with another player who will be on this list) to a 2-1 record. For the week, Simmons averaged 21 points, 9.7 rebounds, 8.7 assists, and 2.3 steals per game while shooting 67% from the field and putting up a double-double each game. I wouldn't even be shocked if Simmons made the all-star game this year

Giannis Antetokounmpo

Giannis Antetokounmpo might not have had his strongest week this season, but even his less-than-best week is still one of the best weekly performances anyone can have. This week, the Milwaukee Bucks went 2-1 and improved to an 8-7 record on the year, with Antetokounmpo leading the way as the Bucks look to improve. For the week, Antetokounmpo averaged 24 points, 10.7 rebounds, 2.7 steals, and 2 blocks per game while shooting 43% from the field.

LeBron James

After a shaky start to the season, the Cleveland Cavaliers seem to have gotten back on track following a perfect 3-0 week, made possible by the leadership of LeBron James. For the week, James averaged 31 points, 9.7 rebounds, 8.7 assists, a steal and 1.3 blocks per game while shooting 56% from the field and 50% from three-point range. The highlight of James' week was a 39 points, 14 rebounds, and 6 assists in an overtime win over the Los Angeles Clippers.

James Harden

James Harden is currently having the best season of his career, as he currently leads the league in points per game and assists per game while the Houston Rockets have the best record in the Western Conference. This week, Harden continued his MVP-caliber season as he led the Rockets to a 3-1 record. For the week, Harden averaged 35.3 points, 4.5 rebounds, 10 assists, and 1.8 steals per game while shooting 43% from the field, 39% from three-point range, and an incredible 47 for 47 from the free throw line. Aside from his phenomenal free throw shooting, Harden's week was highlighted by two games, one where he put up 38 points, 6 rebounds, and 11 assists against the Toronto Raptors, and another where he put up 48 points and 7 assists against in a win over the Phoenix Suns.

Joel Embiid

And rounding out the week is my choice for the player of the week, Joel Embiid. Easily the most out-there pick I've had for the player of the week so far, Embiid had a fantastic week, easily one of the best stretches of his career and by the far the best he's had this season, as he & the 76ers recorded a 2-1 record for the week. As for Embiid, he averaged 33 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 blocks per game while shooting 57% from the field and 33% from three-point range. Embiid had two standout games this week, the first of which was a 32 point, 16 rebounds performance in a win over the Los Angeles Clippers. The second of which was in a win over the Los Angeles Lakers, where he put up a career-high 46 points, 15 rebounds, 7 assists, and 7 blocks, a near quadruple-double. If Embiid can stay healthy this season, he looks like a shoe-in for the all-star game this year.

The Best Undrafted NBA Player From Each Year Since 2000

Most of us have probably felt the disappointment of not being picked for a sports team in high school. Now imagine that, only the selection process is on national television, all your friends & family are with you waiting for a call that's never coming, and you have to watch as everyone else in the pool is picked over you, and that's probably how it feels to go undrafted. Every year, hundreds of college athletes declare for the draft with the hopes of going pro in their sport of choice. However, with a limited number of draft selections available, not all of them will make the cut and find themselves on a team by the end of the draft. The NBA is no stranger to this, as with only 60 picks in each draft, plenty of prospects go undrafted each year. That's not to say that someone's NBA dreams are dead if they don't get picked, as plenty of undrafted players from various draft classes end up making it to the NBA, with some even having lengthy, successful careers for

SHOCKING! Trail Blazers' Zach Collins Has No Racist Tweets From Past

UPDATE: Scratch that. He actually does In wake of the recent scandals involving Major League Baseball players and offensive tweets from their pasts, the basketball world was shocked to discover that Zach Collins of the Portland Trail Blazers did not have any racists posts on his Twitter account from before he was a professional basketball player. As first discovered by Twitter user Xavier Pousey, better known by his Twitter handle @KingCollison4, the former Gonzaga player's Twitter account contained a surprising lack of offensive tweets from his high school days. "He was really just wishing all his friends happy birthday, it wasn't what I was expecting at all," said Pousey when reached for comments by the Basketball Section. "He tweeted about School of Rock not being on Netflix once...that's all I've got." Pousey, a Panda Express employee by day and a Nick Collison fan account administrator by night, initially looked into Collins' Twitter

The Top 10 2008 High School Recruits: 10 Years Later

Recently I saw a video by YouTuber KTO where he took a look back at the top 10 high football recruits in 2008  and how their careers turned out.
