10 Best Players of the Week (11/26-12/2)

With another week of the NBA season in the books, in the pocket, and out of sight, it's time to take a look at the best players of the last week. If you missed last week's, click here. If not, let's get into it, these are the 10 best players of the week.

Joel Embiid

Starting off the list we have Joel Embiid, who has continued his strong sophomore season as he led the Philadelphia 76ers to two wins on the week. For the week, Embiid averaged 26.7 points, 11.7 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game while shooting 40% from the field and recording a double-double in all three games he played.

Andre Drummond

Despite a mediocre past seven days, the Detroit Pistons have maintained their surprisingly good season and still find themselves as one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference. Leading the way for the Pistons is Andre Drummond, who has continued to be the best rebounder in the league along with great all-around play. For the week, Drummond averaged 16.8 points, 14.3 rebounds, 6.5 assists, 2.8 steals, and 1.5 blocks per game while shooting 63% from the field and 79% from the free throw line. I know that's not great, but for Andre Drummond, those are phenomenal numbers.

Paul George

The Oklahoma City Thunder haven't had the smoothest start to the season, but if the recent play by two of their star players is any indication, they look to be coming together nicely. One of those players is Paul George, who has continued to play at the all-star level normal of him. For the week, George averaged 29 points, 4.5 rebounds, 7 assists, and 1.5 blocks per game while shooting 45% from the field, 47% from three-point range, and 94% from the free throw line.

LaMarcus Aldridge

Despite not having two of their best players in Kawhi Leonard and Tony Parker for the majority of the season, the San Antonio Spurs have remained a top team in the Western Conference, currently holding the third best record in their conference. Leading the way for the Spurs has been LaMarcus Aldridge, who led them to a perfect 3-0 record on the week. For the week, Aldridge averaged 32 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game while shooting 62% from the field, 75% from three-point range, and 94% from the free throw line. Aldridge's best game came during the Spurs' win over the Memphis Grizzlies when he put up 41 points and 6 rebounds and went perfect from both the free throw line and three-point range.

Victor Oladipo

This past week, Victor Oladipo was able to do it all. Despite his team's struggles (the Indiana Pacers went 1-2 on the week), Oladipo stuffed the stat sheets every time he stepped on the court over the last seven days, putting up huge numbers in every category. For the week, Oladipo averaged 27 points, 5.3 rebounds, 5.3 assists, 3.3 steals, and 3 blocks per game while shooting 59% from the field and 36% from three-point range.

Aaron Gordon

Remember when the Orlando Magic were good this season. Yeah...good times. After a hot start, the Magic have pretty much fallen off, especially after going 2-8 over their last ten games, dropping them to a 10-14 record. However, one player who has been working hard and put up big numbers this past week was Aaron Gordon, who has been having a stellar season and is looking like a candidate for the Most Improved Player award. For the week, Gordon averaged 28.3 points, 9.3 rebounds, 2 steals, and 2.3 blocks per game while shooting 54% from the field and 50% from three-point range. Gordon's strongest performance of the week came during the Magic's win over the Thunder when Gordon put up 40 points, 15 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals.

LeBron James

The Cleveland Cavaliers have been on a huge hot streak after their poor start to the season, as they're currently on an 11-game win streak and sit in the #2 spot in the Eastern Conference. The main factor of the Cavs' success, as expected, has been LeBron James, who has continued to lead his team to one of the best records in the league. For the week, James averaged 27.3 points, 8.5 rebounds, 9 assists, 1.8 steals, and a block per game while shooting 60% from the field and 37% from three-point range as he led the Cavs to a perfect 4-0 record for the week.

Giannis Antetokounmpo

If it weren't for Giannis Antetokounmpo, the Milwaukee Bucks might be the worst team in the league. I have talked about this before when Eric Bledsoe came to the team, but when Antetokounmpo isn't on the floor, the Bucks get smoked. And with stats like Antetokounmpo's, it's no surprise that the team needs him. For the week (in which he led the Bucks to a perfect 3-0 record for the week) Antetokounmpo averaged 28.3 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists, 3.7 steals, and 1.7 blocks per game while shooting 51% from the field.

Russell Westbrook

As I said earlier, the Thunder haven't had the best start to the season but are looking like they could be gelling nicely. Along with Paul George, one of the players that has been leading the way has been Russell Westbrook. For the week, Russell Westbrook averaged 26 points, 10 rebounds, 9.5 assists, and 3.5 steals per game while shooting 39% from the field.

James Harden

And rounding the list is my pick for player of the week. For the second week in a row, my pick is James Harden, who has been the absolute best player in the league for just about the entire season. The Houston Rockets currently sit atop the Western Conference with the second-best record in the league, which was improved this week after Harden led the Rockets to a 2-0 record. For the week, Harden averaged 33 points, 9 rebounds, 9 assists, 1.5 steals and a block per game while shooting 50% from the field, 48% from three-point range, and 92% from the free throw line. If he keeps up this kind of play all year, Harden could be the easy choice for the MVP.

The Best Undrafted NBA Player From Each Year Since 2000

Most of us have probably felt the disappointment of not being picked for a sports team in high school. Now imagine that, only the selection process is on national television, all your friends & family are with you waiting for a call that's never coming, and you have to watch as everyone else in the pool is picked over you, and that's probably how it feels to go undrafted. Every year, hundreds of college athletes declare for the draft with the hopes of going pro in their sport of choice. However, with a limited number of draft selections available, not all of them will make the cut and find themselves on a team by the end of the draft. The NBA is no stranger to this, as with only 60 picks in each draft, plenty of prospects go undrafted each year. That's not to say that someone's NBA dreams are dead if they don't get picked, as plenty of undrafted players from various draft classes end up making it to the NBA, with some even having lengthy, successful careers for ...

SHOCKING! Trail Blazers' Zach Collins Has No Racist Tweets From Past

UPDATE: Scratch that. He actually does In wake of the recent scandals involving Major League Baseball players and offensive tweets from their pasts, the basketball world was shocked to discover that Zach Collins of the Portland Trail Blazers did not have any racists posts on his Twitter account from before he was a professional basketball player. As first discovered by Twitter user Xavier Pousey, better known by his Twitter handle @KingCollison4, the former Gonzaga player's Twitter account contained a surprising lack of offensive tweets from his high school days. "He was really just wishing all his friends happy birthday, it wasn't what I was expecting at all," said Pousey when reached for comments by the Basketball Section. "He tweeted about School of Rock not being on Netflix once...that's all I've got." Pousey, a Panda Express employee by day and a Nick Collison fan account administrator by night, initially looked into Collins' Twitter ...
