With the 2017-18 season in the books, that means that we're done with moments cards in NBA 2K18 MyTEAM, at least for the regular season. As with every year, 2K puts out moments cards in MyTEAM when players have standout games during the season, specifically cards that are improvements over their original cards. Some players only go up by one rank, others see huge increases in their stats and overalls, and I'm here to rank him. Whether they are players who were underrated from day one by the developers or players who had great performances out of nowhere, these are the 10 most improved players in NBA 2K18 MyTEAM. Excluded from this list are players who didn't have a card to begin with but were given moments cards during the season like Trey Burke & Michael Beasley. But with that out of the way, let's get into this.
Jeff Green
Starting off this list we have Jeff Green of the Cleveland Cavaliers. A 10-year veteran drafted by the Boston Celtics in 2007, Green signed with the Cavaliers during the offseason and received a fair amount of playing time as the team's backup forward. Averaging 10.8 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game while shooting 48% from the field, 31% from three-point range, and 87% from the free throw line, Green didn't light world on fire this season but did have decent little numbers, with one game, in particular, earning him a big upgrade in 2K18 MyTEAM. Originally a bronze card with just a 69 overall (with a dynamic duo with Nate Thurmond, for some reason), Green was given a ruby 88 overall card towards the end of the season, likely because of his 33 point, 5 rebound, 83% field goal, and 83% three-point shooting performance in a loss to the Philadelphia 76ers, giving him a big 19 overall increase. Green's attributes see a 712 point increase across the board, including a huge 63 point increase in offensive consistency and a 54 point increase in shot IQ.
Terry Rozier
As one of the players who saw big improvements over the season, Terry Rozier was bound to improve his MyTEAM rating at some point during the season. Averaging 11.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, 2.9 assists and a steal per game while shooting 40% from the field and 38% from three-point range. Rozier had several big and notable games during the season, resulting in him getting three moments cards during the season and improving his original bronze 69 overall card. The best of those moments cards was a ruby 88 overall card, giving him a 19 point upgrade. The ruby Rozier card sees huge improvements across the board, earning 819 more attributes points. 8 categories see an improvement of 30 or more points, including a 41 point increase a close shot rating and having his boxout rating doubled from 40 to 80.
Ben Simmons
Since Ben Simmons had missed an entire season and nobody knew how he was going to do during the season, it's not that surprising that his initial 2K18 MyTEAM rating was just a silver 75 overall. While you could increase his rating thanks to his dynamic duo with Joel Embiid, it was still not a great rating. However, based on how well he played all season long, it's not surprising to know that he received four different moments cards during the season. Simmons' best moments card was an amethyst 94 overall card, giving him a 19 point upgrade from his original card. The amethyst card also sees an 899 point increase in total attribute points and has 5 different categories double in their rating. Oddly enough, however, the amethyst card actually has a lower standing dunk rating than the original, going down from 71 to 70.
Dillon Brooks
Arguably the biggest steal from the 2017 NBA Draft, Dillon Brooks surprised a lot of people with his play. Drafted with the 45th overall pick by the Houston Rockets, Brooks ended up getting traded to the Memphis Grizzlies and looked to be one of the few bright spots the team as he averaged 11 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game while shooting 44% from the field and 36% from three-point range. Naturally, his incredibly low bronze 65 overall card (the lowest in the game) didn't do him justice, so it's no surprise he got two upgrades via moments cards. The best of those moments cards was a sapphire 85 overall card, giving him a much deserved 20 point upgrade and an 857 attribute point upgrade. The sapphire card also has a near triple upgrade (27 to 70) for his defensive consistency and a 38 point increase in his offensive consistency. It's not a fantastic card to use, but it's still a solid card and a good enough upgrade to get Dillon Brooks on this list.
Kyle Kuzma
I had been saying that Kyle Kuzma was going to be good this season since day one. Drafted by the Brooklyn Nets with the 27th pick, the D'Angelo Russell trade saw Kuzma end up on the Los Angeles Lakers, and few would argue they made a bad decision. Kuzma averaged 16.1 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game in his rookie season while shooting 45% from the field and 37% from three-point range. Kuzma's great play during the season definitely did not reflect the bronze 69 overall card Kuzma got to start on MyTEAM, which is why he received five different moments cards by the end of the season, the best of which is a ruby 89 overall card for a 20 point upgrade. In total, the ruby Kuzma card has a total improvement of 1,032 attribute points and sees a 51 point improvement in offensive consistency, a 50 point increase in three-point shooting off the dribble, and a 47 point increase in foul drawing.
Victor Oladipo
If there's anyone who's original MyTEAM rating in 2K was just flat out disrespectful, it was Victor Oladipo. Despite averaging 15.9 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 1.2 steals per game the year before, Oladipo was originally given just a silver 74 overall. That's lower than players like Avery Bradley, Pau Gasol, Tristan Thompson, Danilo Gallinari, and Enes Kanter. That's just not right. Oladipo ended up having a great, breakout season where he made his first all-star appearance and averaged 23.1 points, 5.2 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and a league-high 2.4 steals per game while shooting 48% from the field and 37% from three-point range. Needless to say that by the end of the season, Oladipo got an upgraded MyTEAM card. He ended up getting three of them, but the best was an amethyst 94 overall, giving him a 20 point upgrade. While his attribute total only went up by 775, the amethyst card saw big upgrades in several categories, including a huge 66 point upgrade in contact dunk (31 to 97), a 50 point upgrade in passing vision, and a 42 upgrade in offensive consistency.
Damyean Dotson
Damyean Dotson did not receive a lot of playing time in his rookie season. Drafted with the 44th pick by the New York Knicks, Dotson only played in 44 games and averaged just over 10 minutes per game. That being said, it's not surprising that Dotson started the year with the lowest rating in the game with a bronze 65 overall card in MyTEAM, and it seemed likely he was going to stay a 65 for the entire season. However, since the Knicks were out of playoff contention by the end of the season, Dotson got the opportunity to play more, and he took advantage of it in a win over the Miami Heat when he put up 30 points and 11 rebounds. That earned him a sapphire 85 overall card, a 20 point upgrade over his original. Getting a total of 873 additional attribute points, including a 49 point upgrade in offensive consistency, a 46 point upgrade in shot IQ, and a 41 point upgrade in offensive rebounding.
Bogdan Bogdanovic
The man with the best/most unfortunate name in basketball today made his long-awaited NBA debut this season and he did not disappoint. Originally drafted back in 2014, Bogdan Bogdanovic would wait three years to make his debut with the Sacramento Kings and put up solid numbers for a very underwhelming Kings team. Averaging 11.8 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game while shooting 45% from the field and 39% from three-point range, Bogdanovic didn't light up the world during his rookie season, but he was still able to put up decent numbers throughout all 78 games he played. However, none of them were considered good enough to get an upgrade on his original silver 71 overall card he started within MyTEAM. He did, however, earn a huge 22 point upgrade thanks to his performance in the Rising Stars Challenge during All-Star Weekend. Representing the World team, Bogdanovic scored 26 points and drained 7 three-pointers, earning the game's MVP and, in the process, an amethyst 93 overall card. The amethyst card has a total attribute upgrade of 751 points and sees big improvements in his outside scoring, with every attribute in that category going up by at least 22 points.
Spencer Dinwiddie
After three seasons of largely underwhelming play, Spencer Dinwiddie had a big year as he averaged career-highs across the board and had his best season to date. Averaging 12.6 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 6.6 assists per game while shooting 39% from the field and 33% from three-point range, Dinwiddie received a bigger role on a struggling Brooklyn Nets due to injuries to D'Angelo Russell and Jeremy Lin, and Dinwiddie capitalized big time. Dinwiddie had the best games of his career this past season, including dropping a career-high 31 points in a game against the Toronto Raptors and a career-high 13 assists in a game against the San Antonio Spurs. Originally given just a silver 70 overall card to start in MyTEAM, Dinwiddie was given three different moments cards due to his strong play. However, the best of those cards came thanks to Dinwiddie winning the Skills Challenge during All-Star Weekend, which earned him a huge diamond 95 overall card for a 25 point upgrade altogether and an 889 total attribute upgrade. Notable upgrades include having every playmaking & outside scoring attribute at 95 or higher, a 43 point upgrade in defensive consistency, a 34 point upgrade in foul drawing, and a 33 point upgrade in steals. While the huge jump in the cards salary (an increase of 1129) is big, it's still a great card to use if you need a point guard.
Donovan Mitchell
Donovan Mitchell might not have been a top 10 pick in the most recent draft, Donovan Mitchell proved to everybody that he was much better than just a late lottery pick. Drafted with the 13th pick by the Denver Nuggets, Mitchell was traded to the Utah Jazz on draft day, and his addition is probably a big reason the Jazz were able to make it back to the playoffs after losing Gordon Hayward. Averaging 20.5 points, 3.7 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.5 steals per game during the season and shooting 44% from the field and 34% from three-point range, Mitchell is a heavy favorite to win the Rookie of the Year and looks set to be one of the NBA's next big things. Mitchell's fantastic play in his rookie season was much, much better than the silver 71 overall card he started with in MyTEAM, and it's not surprising that Mitchell got five moments cards during the course of the season. The best of those cards came thanks to Mitchell winning the Slam Dunk Contest during All-Star Weekend, which got him a massive diamond 97 overall card, giving him a 26 point upgrade and the highest upgrade between a player's original card and his best moments card. Mitchell, who's original dunk ratings are all below 50, all go up to perfect 99 ratings. On top of that, Mitchell's offensive consistency sees a 62 point upgrade and all of Mitchell's outside scoring attributes go to 95 or above. With a total attribute point upgrade of 1,084, this is one of the best cards to use in the game and the biggest upgrade for any current player.
