NBA Team of the Week (11/10-11/16)

With another week of the NBA season in the books, it's time for me to give my picks for the Team of the Week. Click here to read last week's edition. If you want to go back and take a look at all the previous Team of the Week posts from the current season, then click here. So with that out of the way, this is the NBA Team of the Week.

Point Guard: James Harden

The Rockets have had a strong start to the season already, but this week they turned it up to 11 and went a perfect 4-0, improving their record to 10-3, the 2nd best in the Western Conference and only half a game behind 1st. Leading the way for the Rockets was James Harden, who's lackluster shooting hasn't been enough to slow him down, especially this week. For the week, Harden averaged 44.8 points, 5.8 rebounds, 6.8 assists, and 2.3 steals per game while shooting 46% from the field and 40% from three-point range. Harden recorded over 45 points in two of the four games this week, the best of which was a 49 point performance in a blowout win over the Timberwolves.

Reserves:

Luka Doncic: 31 PPG, 10.3 RPG, 9 APG, 1.7 SPG, 45% FG
Kemba Walker: 24.7 PPG, 5 RPG, 5 APG, 1 BPG, 43% FG, 45% 3FG, 92% FT

Shooting Guard: Bradley Beal

Unsurprisingly, the Wizards have been having a rough go of things early in the season. Currently second-to-last in the Eastern Conference, the Wizards went 1-1 this past week, keeping them at a poor 3-7 record on the year so far. That being said, the only thing keeping this team afloat has been Bradley Beal, who had a fantastic week for himself. For the week, Beal averaged 44 points, 4 rebounds, 8 assists, and 1.5 steals per game while shooting. In the Wizards sole win this week came in a 20-point win over the Timberwolves, Beal recorded 44 points & 10 assists for his second double-double of the year.

Reserves:

 Donovan Mitchell: 27.3 PPG, 7.7 RPG, 4.3 APG, 1 SPG, 45% FG, 100% FT
Zach LaVine: 28.7 PPG, 4.3 APG, 1.3 SPG, 44% FG, 37% 3FG, 91% FT

Small Forward: Paul George

After missing the better part of the first month of the season while recovering from multiple surgeries, Paul George is back and showing no signs of rust. While the Clippers didn't have a great week (2-2), George made a big impact in the two games that he played in. For the week, George averaged 35 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and a steal per game while shooting 59% from the field, 56% from three-point range, and a perfect 21-for-21 from the free-throw line. After his Clippers debut was spoiled by the Pelicans, George came through huge as he dropped 37 points as the Clippers absolutely thrashed the Hawks in a 49-point win.

Reserves:

Andrew Wiggins: 29.3 PPG, 6 RPG, 5.7 APG, 1.3 SPG, 1 BPG, 52% FG, 44% 3FG
Jaylen Brown: 23 PPG, 8 RPG, 1.3 SPG, 52% FG, 50% 3FG

Power Forward: Giannis Antetokounmpo

With the Eastern Conference looking surprisingly strong & competitive early in the season, the Bucks are currently in third in the conference despite a 9-3 record. Following a perfect 3-0 record this past week, it doesn't look like the Bucks will fall out of contention for the top spot anytime soon, especially if Giannis Antetokounmpo keeps playing the way he has early in the season. For the week, the reigning-MVP averaged 33 points, 15 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 1.7 steals and a block per game while shooting 60% from the field and 43% from three-point range. Antetokounmpo recorded 35 or more points and over 15 rebounds in two games this week, first recording 35 points & 16 rebounds against the Thunder and then recording 38 points & 16 rebounds four days later against the Bulls.

Reserves:

Anthony Davis: 22.7 PPG, 8.3 RPG, 1.7 SPG, 3 BPG, 49% FG, 30% 3FG
LeBron James: 21 PPG, 7.5 RPG, 12.3 APG, 1 SPG, 46% FG

Center: Joel Embiid

While the 76ers haven't had a bad start to the season, I feel like most fans would consider their early record a disappointment. Currently 7-5 on the year after a 2-2 outing this past week, the Sixers find themselves out of the top four teams in the Eastern Conference, a position that a team with as much talent as the Sixers should be above. Still, they're not in a bad spot right now, especially with the way Joel Embiid played this week. For the week, Embiid averaged 25.3 points, 12.3 rebounds, 1.3 steals, and 1.3 blocks per game while shooting 52% from the field and 50% from three-point range. Embiid's best performance of the week came against the Cavaliers when he recorded 27 points and 16 rebounds in a narrow win.

Reserves:

Karl-Anthony Towns: 28.2 PPG, 12 RPG, 1 SPG, 1.4 BPG, 53% FG, 41% 3FG
Rudy Gobert: 22 PPG, 15.3 RPG, 1 SPG, 3 BPG, 85% FG

The Best Undrafted NBA Player From Each Year Since 2000

Most of us have probably felt the disappointment of not being picked for a sports team in high school. Now imagine that, only the selection process is on national television, all your friends & family are with you waiting for a call that's never coming, and you have to watch as everyone else in the pool is picked over you, and that's probably how it feels to go undrafted. Every year, hundreds of college athletes declare for the draft with the hopes of going pro in their sport of choice. However, with a limited number of draft selections available, not all of them will make the cut and find themselves on a team by the end of the draft. The NBA is no stranger to this, as with only 60 picks in each draft, plenty of prospects go undrafted each year. That's not to say that someone's NBA dreams are dead if they don't get picked, as plenty of undrafted players from various draft classes end up making it to the NBA, with some even having lengthy, successful careers for ...

SHOCKING! Trail Blazers' Zach Collins Has No Racist Tweets From Past

UPDATE: Scratch that. He actually does In wake of the recent scandals involving Major League Baseball players and offensive tweets from their pasts, the basketball world was shocked to discover that Zach Collins of the Portland Trail Blazers did not have any racists posts on his Twitter account from before he was a professional basketball player. As first discovered by Twitter user Xavier Pousey, better known by his Twitter handle @KingCollison4, the former Gonzaga player's Twitter account contained a surprising lack of offensive tweets from his high school days. "He was really just wishing all his friends happy birthday, it wasn't what I was expecting at all," said Pousey when reached for comments by the Basketball Section. "He tweeted about School of Rock not being on Netflix once...that's all I've got." Pousey, a Panda Express employee by day and a Nick Collison fan account administrator by night, initially looked into Collins' Twitter ...
